AAD System Lead Engineer

Location: Shanghai-New Bund

The Opportunity 

The role will be based within the Electrical & Vehicle Engineering (EVE) Centre Of Competence, and part of attribute 

team based within the Assisted & Automated Driving (AAD) Feature and System Team. 

The Features and system team is an exciting area, designing and delivering new AAD features through definition of the 

customer experiences, design of the system and validation and confirmation the design meets the customer intent. 

This technical role is responsible to lead the definition, development and delivery of harmonized systems solutions, 

consisting of multiple interconnected components into Jaguar Land Rover vehicles for ADAS features. 

The role includes the opportunity to design and define the way in which Assisted and Automated Driving Features can 

support our customers in their every day journeys, through a combination of driving aids, driving assistance and driving 

automation. The role will require a customer focussed individual who can provide objective analysis of the user 

behaviour to support the definition of functional and perofmance related requirements associated with the features. 

  

Key Performance Indicators 

· Delivery of systems to system engineering to Systems Engineeing Milestones and programme gateways. 

· Quality of system requirements through formal approval of system requirements by agreed stakeholders. 

· Delivery of system Models on time and to quality. 

· Quality and timely delivery of System Engineering artifacts to the System Engineering process (KWS 12.13). 

· Linkage of requirements to Customer Requirements, architecture and hence Subsystem Requirements 

· Speed of Issue resolution for all defects in the system. 

· Precision and adherence to the System delivery plan. 

· Quality of EBER reviews and ESO reviews. 

· Lead the system delivery to meet gateways and deliverables working to integrate the work from all areas that contribute to the system; for example Feature Owner, V&V. 

· Lead the technical design reviews (EBER / Design) to confirm quality of system meets the targets and lead approval at Senior levels in AAD. 

· Validate functional and none functional system requirements and targets to ensure that system meets the customer requirements. 

· Validate the quality of the System Engineering artifacts as defined in KWS 12.13 ahead of review and approval at EBER with the senior team 

· Continuous Confirm system delivery progress and baseline at each iteration (EBER / Design reviews) and lead the approval at Senior Manager level. 

· Ensure the support teams deliver commitment to the system delivery plan, for example, architecture teams, Feature owners, Hardware and Software teams to support the e2e system delivery plan and resolve any issues or conflicts. 

· Lead regular cross-functional technical reviews on the systems with a data focused approach 

· System Functional and Non-Functional Analysis - carry out a range of analysis and investigations of the customer requirements to define the expected system functionality and their performance targets. 

· Evaluate multiple system design concepts and maintain integrity between system and its components to arrive at a harmonised solution 

· Accountable for System Design Specification – prepare system requirements specification and develop functional designs, demonstrating how the system satisfies the defined customer requirements 

· Responsible: Contribute to the team’s set of best practices, standards, and design guidelines.

Knowledge, SKills and Experience 

Essential: 

· The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic and a strategic thinker. 

· Extensive Knowledge of Assisted and Automated Driving Systems 

· Good relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment. 

· Proven experience in working from a blank sheet of paper with minimal supervision. 

· Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering 

· Knowledge of Customer Quality Process and Metrics 

· Excellent communicator and the ability to present technical ideas and issues to all levels of the company. 

· Ability to author and review requirements either through a model or throughts requirements defined in a 

structured format such as EARS. 

· Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, 

design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance 

· In depth knowledge of Assisted and Automated driving systems 

· Working knowledge of the Mathworks toolchain and the creation of modelling artifacts within the mathworks 

tools. 

· The ability to perform objective assessment of a system and log data from a vehicle network. 

 · At least 5+ years of experience in related system/design field. 

  

Desirable: 

· Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured 

approach 

· Experience in Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML using IBM Rational Rhapsody 

· Experience in IBM Rational DOORS 

· Working Experience of AGILE methods
