AAD Hardware Lead Engineer

Location: Shanghai-New Bund

The Opportunity 

The role will be based within the Electrical & Vehicle Engineering (EVE) Centre of Competence, and part of attribute team based within the Assisted & Automated Driving (AAD) Software and Hardware Team. 

The Software and Hardware team is an exciting area, which covers all the enablers for AAD products. It basically includes the hardware, BSW and application software. 

This technical role is a global hardware engineer, who will be closely working with the hardware chapter to deliver the best class AAD components as well as the technologies that will enable the future autonomous driving experiences.  

 

Key Performance Indicators 

  • Delivery of component products to Hardware Engineering Milestones and program gateways. 

  • Quality of component requirements through formal approval of system requirements by agreed stakeholders. 

  • Linkage of requirements to Customer Requirements, architecture 

  • Speed of Issue resolution for all defects in the system. 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

  •  - Define and author clear AAD electrical/mechanical specification in JLR requirements management tool.  

  • - Direct activities for internal stakeholders in design and test gateways.  

  • -Key components selection and define product strategy. 

  • - Review and approve hardware design, worst case analysis and validation report. 

  • - Lead FMA activities for AAD components. 

  • - Perform rigorous tolerance analysis of module design and 2D/3D drawing release. 

  • -Package the module and meet the requirement of regulation, styling, ergo, etc. 

  • - Interface with suppliers on components and manufacturing sites for design issues and production.  

  • - Occasional travel to partner manufacturing site.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

Essential: 

  • The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic and a strategic thinker.​ 

  • Proven record of project ownership and working in a fast-paced automotive environment. 

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 3+ years of relevant experience in the design of AAD HW. 

  • Deep understanding of AAD HW design and roadmap. 

  • Experienced in WCCA and PCBA layout. 

  • Knowledge of FuSa in HW design, experienced FMEDA. 

  • Knowledge of mechanical design, GD&T, molding will be a plus. 

  • Experience with testing, reliability and qualification of automotive standards and process. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering, master will be a plus.  

Desirable: 

  • End to end development of Lidar or Domain control product
