Direct Procurement Manager

The Role

The role has strategic Procurement, sourcing and Reginal Delivery responsibility for Direct Procurement commodities and will be responsible to support/lead global commodity procurement strategy setup, to manage China suppliers from quality, cost, delivery, innovation and sustainability, as well as future sourcing opportunities within the APAC region. You will report into the Senior Procurement manager in China. You will be expected to manage and influence key stakeholders across the region.

 

Your Responsibilities

You will be accountable for the procurement strategy setup and alignment, value chain analysis, support/lead sourcing projects and supplier negotiation strategy within this region whilst ensuring that the appropriate Purchasing procedures are implemented and adhered to. You will deliver value added commercial savings in line with annual functional targets for the China region in addition to ensuring successful commercial programme delivery and product launch.

Functional Scope

You will be expected to deliver significant value from quality, cost, delivery, innovation, sustainability through global sourcing or localisation projects during different stages including strategy, sourcing, delivery. You will be expected to influence all the stakeholders from UK production procurement and from JV purchasing teams. You will actively manage the China supply base in line with central best practice procurement tools, techniques and strategies. The key focus for the role is a combination of bringing a technical purchasing expertise and approach to the APAC Region, influencing key stakeholders to ensure best value delivered to JLR production in UK and China.

 

As a key member of our Purchasing team, your focus will be on:

 

  • Support/lead the development of global and local commodity strategy through proper processes and value chain study of the commodity to improve from QCDIS
  • Setup commodity strategy and get it aligned within internal stakeholders
  • Implementing purchasing strategies defined by our Global Commodity Leads, that meet our exacting QCDIS targets. Ensuring commodity strategies are adopted, delivered and adhered to
  • Support/lead the management of the commodity or service through the APQP, PPAP and CCDS, CPMT, agile squad processes in region
  • Management of relationships with internal customers and stakeholders to provide the best overall outcomes from the supply chain.
  • Driving compliance with all Purchasing Policies & Procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Negotiate commercial claims and proactively manage associated delivery risk

Deliver functional annual cost saving targets

 

Skills, experience and qualifications required

  • Broad Purchasing Experience in automotive or manufacturing industry.
  • Extensive experience within battery pack components, power electronics and other related electrification commodities.
  • Strong market knowledge and intelligence of the supply base and of what new technology can be used within the automotive industry
  • Strategic thinking
  • Ability to demonstrate effective negotiation styles and techniques. 
  • Strong coordination & collaboration ability with internal customers.
  • Demonstrate strong self-learning ability within the new business environment and new commodity assignment.
  • Excellent level of spoken and written English.
